CHRISTMAS EVE

As though eve sounds like a name, Let’s dive deeper into her aim. Because, once upon a time in Eden, This same name was a mention. Days, weeks and months may pass, And once a lad meets a lass, He calls her to be his. Especially if she’s still a miss. She may agree with a kiss, Or sometimes with a cunning hiss… Saying, “I’ll think about it” If you hear her say this, Then boy, she deems you fit.  Here comes your Eve: Not that regular girl… Who takes no for an answer, Nor accepting anything meager. Eve sees you as her sponsor, Her onetime companion. She trust to rest on your shoulder, And you dare not avoid her opinion. So take note of her anniversaries, As she jealously fight your adversaries. She expects you to sacrifice your anger, Even if she’s wrong, give her a pamper. Spoiling her with gifts and roses, As if life is all but rosy.

UnSHREDDED DREAMS

It’s another weekend! Where the light shines no more At the the tunnel’s end Unless we decide to roar. Life has come to a limit. As everyone is in remit, To their weaknesses And not just sicknesses. Soon looms another year, As December is here. January is yet pending, And we all hope to be there. But where are the hopes? Our past ambitions, Those dreams we shared with the popes, And our prayers of petitions. Whatever we hoped to taste, All seems burnt to waste. We asked for money, But we only got to sip honey. We prayed for grace, But our faces fell in grease. Maybe it was not your time, So God didn’t give you a dime. But if you are reading this rhyme, Know ye that you are about to shine.

TRUSTED STRANGERS

You relax with comfort, Knowing how safe it is, To be on an airplane. You chill out in a ship, Comfortably sailing on the ocean, Although you can’t swim. You join the train, And feel its meandering bends, Thinking it’s safer than road. You join a vehicle to work, Comfortable at the back seat, Trusting that you’ll arrive early. In all these circumstances, Taking no chances, You trusted total strangers. And you were very sure of your safety. The pilot you don’t know, The captain of the ship neither, Nor the train and car driver. Yet you put your life in their hands. So why strive at life, While you know God Almighty. The giver and taker, The securer of your future. So relax, and trust God, Just be yourself, Yearn less and don’t stress. Be patient and submit yourself to HIM.

A LAN WITH A PLAN

The patriotism of a man, Popularly known for splashing cash, Was once held so high as next to the sun. That he never thought of a backlash. His party, friends and ally, Had him as the next leader. So he gave out his all to every rally, With hope to reap bountifully later. But the Bible had admonished, “Woe to a man who trusts in men” So the word became flesh, And the evidence today is fresh. A new man had risen with a plan. With fame, cash and lies, Who knit cunning ties, With intent to steal from Alan. The promise to him as his inheritance, Is now nullified without stance, Within the new sect of patriots, Who were once his cherished compatriots. “It is my turn” Yes he exclaimed! You should have taken your chance, The Judases had vividly explained. Thus, how he gave out his birth right. Never say never as dry bones can rise again. Alan will not give up the chase, Knowing how much there is to gain, Especially when you have a good case. So here they come! As a united front, To give the s...

Aliko Dangote

A rolling stone gathers no moss, And still water gathers mildew. So if you are to be the boss, You must awake before the dew. Words of wisdom but of pun, Spewing out like rays of the sun. And I listened well with intent, As Dangote lectured me via the internet. Seldom do we get them to share Wisdom with this kind of flair. ’’So if you entered the bedroom of Bill Gate, Within a minute and one thing for you to take, What will I see with you while exiting his gate’’ This was the rich man’s question, When I asked him how he made his wealth. Will you take a picture or money for the future?  Will you pick his diary or a book of fortune? To be sincere, I couldn’t answer. So help me, my dear reader.  ’’If you take one thing from a rich man, You can’t be like him.  Unless he hands over to you exactly what made him rich’’ he continued. So be patient, Watch and learn. Go, try it out and return. Ask for guidance and yearn. But when time is due, don’t flaunt it on the internet.

OVER the MOON

And here the times come; The times you’ll stand tall, And yet your tears will fall. Not for being troubled, But blessings being doubled. Then you’ll remember how you did wait, Sometimes in the dew, With faith your only bait, Just to know when time is due. Those times shall come nevertheless; Where He will surely find you to bless. But will you be in too much hurry, Or will you take just a minute to tarry? Will you uphold that anchor, And still maintain your sense of humor? Will the virtue in you be forgone, Or your trust in God be forlorn? In those moments; When you have no more worry, May you not be too busy, But remember the monuments, That has brought you over the moon.

HUNKY-DORY

And here the times come; The times you’ll stand tall And yet your tears will fall. Not for being troubled, But blessings being doubled. Then you will have no more time; No more time for routines, Even the morning warm water and lime, And your favorite dawn gospel tunes. Will you have time for physique, Or your heart to God will turn oblique? Then will you miss your daily exercise; The payer that keeps you spiritual. Will the quiet time zeal turn skeptical? These times shall come nevertheless; Where He will surely find you to bless. But will you be in too much hurry, Or will you take just a minute to tarry? In those moments, When we have no more worry, May we remember the monuments, That has brought us Hunky-dory.
